Chicago: Exuding confidence that Indian economy is on the growth trajectory, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the country was poised to achieve nine per cent GDP growth rate in couple of years.

Speaking to select audience held on the sidelines of silver jubilee celebrations of the American Telugu Association at Chicago, Venkaiah Naidu said the world economic growth rate was slowing down with China’s growth rate plummeting down to less than seven per cent.

However, he observed that India's growth rate which was at 7.4 per cent was forging ahead with each passing year under the stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Venkaiah Naidu said Modi, with his dynamic approach in all spheres, won accolades of the World Bank. Quoting the World Bank chief, Venkaiah Naidu said, “Things are moving fast in India and is making a fantastic progress on the economic front.”

Elaborating the progress made by the country, Naidu said several innovative schemes like Digital India, Skill India and gas subsidy scheme received overwhelming response as the lives of the people are changing for better. “We are reaching the unreached, banking, the unbanked and funding the unfounded" he said.

Unable to digest the fast pace progress of the BJP government, the Congress which failed to deliver goods as admitted by Rajiv Gandhi, he said, The Congress is frustrated and not cooperating with the BJP in passing several important bills in the Parliament aimed at the betterment of the people,” Naidu thundered amidst loud applause from the audience.

Making a passionate plea to the NRIs to invest in India, the Union Minister told the Telugus not to forget three Ms- mother, mother land and mother tongue." Several Ministers MPs from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh including Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Naini Narasimha Reddy, Ghanta Srinivas Rao , K Keshav Rao, TRS general secretary, Y V Subba Reddy , Jitender Reddy, Mithun Reddy, Roja, top industrialists, G Mallikarjuna Rao, B V Mohan Reddy attended the convention.
