Hyderabad: Telangana Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TTDLP) suffered another jolt as the party has been asked to vacate the two office rooms allotted to function on the Assembly premises.

  • TDP asked to vacate two rooms in the State Assembly
  • Revanth Reddy alleges that the TRS government is resorting to vindictive politics against Opposition parties

The two rooms (number 107 and 110) in the complex that accommodates all legislature party offices in the State Assembly have been allotted to Women Development and Child Welfare Committee chairman Rekha Naik and Minority Welfare Committee chairman Shakil with immediate effect.

State Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram said that Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary took the decision to allot rooms to the Assembly Committees as the Chair has the discretion in the allotment of office rooms. A separate office room would be given to the TDLP if the party forwarded its requisition to the Speaker.

In fact, TDLP’s strength has been reduced to three MLAs from 15 after party legislators switched loyalties to the ruling TRS in the last two years. The Assembly has been following a standard procedure in the allotment of rooms to parties depending on its strength in the Assembly.

Stunned at the Speaker’s decision, TDLP leader A Revanth Reddy alleged that the TRS government was resorting to vindictive politics against Opposition parties. The Speaker is taking decisions at the behest of the government depriving opposition parties of its privileges. The party would take up a legal battle against the government’s decision, he said.

Revanth Reddy also sought the support of all other opposition parties. CLP leader K Jana Reddy said he would pursue the issue with the Speaker. Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of indulging in blackmail tactics to weaken the Opposition parties.
