Hyderabad: BJP national president Amit Shah has asked the State unit’s senior leaders to come to Delhi on Friday, armed with a concrete plan of action to emerge as an alternative to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

The party’s core committee leaders of the State met on Wednesday to finalise the contents of the report which would be submitted to the national president.

Sources said that it was decided to submit details about the party’s plans to take up public issues in a big way. The issues identified by the party are exposing the government on its 2BHK scheme, failure to distribute three-acre land to dalits and corruption in irrigation projects.

The party leaders felt that this was the right moment to expand across the state by focusing on the ‘misrule’ of the ruling TRS. There is no TDP now and the morale of the Congress party leaders is also at an all-time low.

This is the right time for the party to make its presence felt and emerge as an alternative in the State,” said a senior leader. The two Telugu-speaking States figure at the top of the list of the seven States in which the BJP wants to emerge as a credible alternative by 2019.

Amit Shah too had taken a keen interest and made several visits to the State and interacted with leaders at the grassroots level. During his previous visits, the national president asked the leaders to visit villages and agitate on public issues. He had come twice in a week towards the end of May, revealing the interest he had in strengthening the party in Telangana.

Sources said that with no significant change in the political atmosphere in the State, the party president has asked the main leaders to come to Delhi with an action plan.

The party leaders from Telangana would meet Amit Shah and submit their report on Friday afternoon, following which the AP delegation would make its presentation.

The leaders visiting Delhi include Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya, national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao, State president K Laxman, former State president G Kishan Reddy, national executive member Nagam Janardhan Reddy, former president N Indrasena Reddy, former legislative party leader E Lakshminarayana.
