  • The seizure comes at a time when fever and diarrhea cases are on the rise in the city, leaving people on tenterhooks

According to sources, a week back medical staff found that some of the bottles were found to be defective. Instead of immediately stopping the usage, they continued using the material. However, surgeries were not stopped on account of the seizure of saline bottles, hospital sources said.

The seizure comes at a time when fever and diarrhea cases are on the rise in the city, leaving people on tenterhooks. Arvind, a resident of Marredpally said, “I am thinking twice to take my 80-year-old mother to the hospital now. We just cannot trust the medicines that are administered.”

Repeated attempts to contact Niloufer Hospital authorities proved futile. Insiders however say that the administration was very well aware that the saline bottles were from the same company that is in use at Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital. A nurse on condition of anonymity said that the higher ups are not bothered and standard procedures are not followed.
