Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Ravindra Gupta launched a massive tree plantation programme held at South Lallaguda Railway Colony, Secunderabad on Monday. The programme marked SCR’s initative in taking up the Green mission of the State governement ‘Haritha Haram’ forward.

Ravindra Gupta planted a sapling at South Lallaguda Railway colony, Secunderabad to formally commence the tree plantation drive. He gave a call to all the Railway men to plant one tree each and nurture its growth, so as to enable create a greener environment.

The tree plantation drive, which covered South Lallaguda, North Lallaguda, Sitaphalmandi, Mettuguda, Moula-Ali, Kacheguda, Chilkalguda Railway Colonies and around 5,000 saplings were planted, involving the participation of railway staff, school children, scouts & guides, National Green Corps etc.

The General Manager was joined by A.K.Gupta, Addl General Manager, Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions and other senior officials in the tree plantation drive. Around 10 acres of land at Sanathnagar, 20 acres at Cherlapalli, 30 acres between Sanathnagar and Lingampalli was levelled to undertake block plantation of 30,000 trees. Around 30,000 trees are planned to be planted in the mid section between Bhongir-Cherlapalli.

HMR plants 1.2 lakh saplings
Hyderabad: As part of the 25-lakh mega plantation programme on a single day by the State government in the city, Hyderabad Metro Rail planted 1.22 lakh saplings on Monday.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao along with Transpsort Minister P Mahender Reddy participated in HMRL’s plantation drive under the Metro Rail viaduct between Uppal X Roads and Tarnaka.

Earlier, HMR MD N V S Reddy briefed Ministers about HMRL’s plantation programme at 36 locations in the city. He informed the Ministers that drip irrigation was provided for the plants under the viaduct and that the same ensured 95 per cent survival of the ornamental shrubs planted last year in Nagole-Uppal stretch.

MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao appreciated the HMRL’s green drive in which over 2,000 girls participated. Malkajgiri MP Ch Malla Reddy, Uppal MLA N V S S Prabhakar, local corporators of Wards 7 and 8 and other voluntary associations and residents enthusiastically participated in the plantation programme.
