​Nizamabad: Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy on Tuesday planted saplings on the premises of the local Tehsil, Survey and Land Records office as part of the Haritha Haram programme and exhorted the people to take up the planting drive voluntarily as it was not limited to any one individual.

Later, speaking at a programme held at the local Pragati Bhavan, he asked the officials to take steps to plant saplings on a largescale on the premises of all 645 private schools, 78 junior colleges, 25 degree colleges and other technical colleges and institutes wherever the vacant land was available.

He said that planting the targeted 3.35 crore saplings in the district was not difficult as the weather was conducive for the same.
He suggested planting toddy saplings on the 661 Mission Kakatiya tank bunds, community places and burial grounds.

He said that improving greenery would help improve the groundwater table which in turn would lead to agricultural prosperity.He stressed on protecting the saplings after planting them to achieve the Haritha Haram goal.Revenue Divisional Officer Yadi Reddy, Survey of Land Records Assistant Director Kishan Rao and others also took part in the programme.
