Nalgonda: Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and Transport Minister Mahender Reddy have on Thursday participated in Haritha Haram programme at Choutuppal, Narketpally and Suryapet.

The duo planted saplings at Malkapur vehicle fitness center of Choutuppal mandal, RTC bus depot at Narketpally, RTC bus depot, RTA office and DSP office at Suryapet as arranged by police, RTA and RTC departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Jagadish Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Reddy has launched the second phase of Haritha Haram programme on July 8 to create awareness among the public on the importance of green coverage and its uses.

Reiterating CM statement, the Minister said Nalgonda district had only 5.83 percentage of green coverage against the recommended 33 percent of forest area for ecological balance.

He emphasised the need to plant more saplings in the district to make a Haritha Nalgonda. Jagadish said there is no scope for misconceptions regarding to the construction of power projects in the State. Construction of all power projects would be completed as per the schedule without fail.

He ruled out the derogatory comments of Opposition party leaders on power projects and expressed his confidence in providing round-the-clock power supply to the people in the State by the end of 2018.

Minister Mahender Reddy said the government decided to plant 10 crore saplings in each district to make a Haritha Telangana and to bring back sufficient rains across the State. He appreciated the people and all government departments, NGO organisations for making Haritha Haram a grand success.
