Parkal (Warangal): A man and woman in their twenties were found dead on Jeedigutta hillock at Singarajupalli village of Atmakur mandal in the district on Sunday.

According to CI Ravi Kumar and SI Ramakrishna, the deceased were identified as Gurram Shahana (21) studying B Tech second year in a private college at Gudeppad and Ramagiri Ranjith (23), who completed MBA.

The local shepherds, who noticed foul smell coming from the hillocks, reached the spot and found the bodies in a highly decomposed state and immediately alerted the police.

The identity of the skeletal remains of the man and woman was ascertained based on their college identity card and mobile phones. The police found a pesticide bottle by the side of the bodies.

They belong to Kothagattu Singaram village of Shayampet and went missing nearly 80 days ago. Shahana’s mother Sharada filed a case with Shayampet police on April 27 regarding her daughters’ missing. After searching for 10 days, the police found out the two-wheeler on which the deceased travelled near hillocks but the missing persons could not be traced. The refusal by the parents to their love marriage might have led to their suicide, the police suspect.

A team of doctors visited the spot to conduct post mortem. The skeletal remains were sent to forensic laboratory. The police registered a case under CrPC section 174 and are investigating.
