Warangal: The TRS district president T Ravinder Rao has accused the Opposition parties of trying to misguide the people over Mallanna Sagar project issue to gain political mileage.

Speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Wednesday, he hit at the Opposition parties, calling them as anti-people and anti-development and held them responsible for the recent incident of lathi-charge in Medak district.

Ravinder Rao said that the Opposition parties were acting as if acquiring land for projects was being done for the first time. Congress and TDP and CPM during its regime in West Bengal have built irrigation projects by acquiring land and paying compensation to the evacuees.

Acquiring the land for projects was not a new thing and all the above parties have taken the required land from the farmers and residents, whenever they constructed irrigation or any other project. But now they were opposing the same, he said.

The State government is ready to offer proper compensation to the displaced people as per their wish. Eight villages will be displaced and majority of them have consented to give up land and to take compensation offered by the State government,’ the TRS leader explained.

But the Opposition parties, working against the interests and aspirations of people of the State, have been creating ruckus over Mallanna Sagar project. Those opposing the project must understand that separate Telangana agitation was meant to ensure due share in water and power and jobs, Ravinder Rao said.

The irresponsibility of the Opposition parties was clearly displayed when they walked out from the Assembly without attending Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s power point presentation on irrigation projects. They should have given suggestions to the government by attending the session.

The Opposition parties lack moral right to criticise the State government, Ravinder Rao maintained and advised them to come up with constructive criticism instead of creating hurdles in development works initiated by the government.Party leaders Jannu Jachairaiah, Md Nayeemuddin and others were present.
