Rules violation alleged in Hyd-Sagar road works
A major part of the Hyderabad-Nagarjunasagar road is being widened violating regulations to complete the work in 15 days in view of the fast approaching deadline of August. The road is the main link between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States to be used by lakhs of devotees during upcoming Krishna Pushkaralu.

Although the aim of the government is laudable the road-users are being severely inconvenienced by the negligent attitude of both the officials and the contractor who has been entrusted the work of the road from Mal to Nagarjunasagar. M/s Seenayya Company has bagged the Rs.100-cr contract of the work which began in April. Originally the road is scheduled to be completed by October.
However, in view of the Puskaralu the administration reportedly urged the firm to complete the work by this month-end, promising to release the required funds. The contractor allegedly split the contract into two packages and handed them on sub-contract basis to two persons.
The sub-contract work is being done in violation of the regulations, it is alleged. As the road is being expanded by five feet on either side, local residents allege that the contractor is using black granite gravel instead of the one regularly used.
They apprehend that the use of this gravel would result in its breaking leading to sinking of the road. Some told The Hans India that sand containing stones is being laid on either side of the road to prevent accidents.
The road-users moving on the Mal-Mallepalli stretch, which is being expanded by seven to nine metres, are facing more problems in view of rains. No boards cautioning them have been put up. If such work schedule continues local residents apprehend that the road would not only remain incomplete but also lead to traffic congestions.
