​Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma on Tuesday directed the Hyderabad and Rangareddy district collectors to speed up the acquisition of properties along the Metro Rail corridor on priority to facilitate better traffic movement.

The chief secretary conducted a Special Task Force (STF) meeting on the progress of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) project on Tuesday, where its MD N V S Reddy made a detailed presentation on the progress of the project.

Reddy informed that foundations along 58 km stretch, pillars along 56 km stretch and viaducts along 46 km stretch were completed. He highlighted areas where action could be expedited by the State and Central government departments and organisations.

The Chief Secretary was informed that 37 properties were acquired and dismantled after the earlier meeting. The CS further directed the postmaster general, Hyderabad region, to hand over the terrace portion of the post office building at Begumpet immediately.

The CS has also directed that the L&TMRHL to expedite the construction activity since a large number of work fronts were available in different parts of the city.
