Warangal: Anxious at AICC chief Sonia Gandhi falling ill during her road-show in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, the city Congress leaders here sought divine intervention for their leader’s speedy recovery.

Accompanied by a huge portrait of Sonia, the city Congress working president Rajanala Srihari along with several party workers has offered special prayers at Geetha Bhavan Temple at Warangal Chowrastha on Wednesday.

Speaking to press persons on the occasion, the Congress leader said the news of Sonia Gandhi falling ill, while launching the party’s election campaign ahead of 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, has saddened the party workers.

He appealed the party workers to offer prayers at all the temples, churches and masjids for quick recovery of the AICC chief, who was now being treated at Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi.

The road-show by the Congress chief in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency has attracted good response from the locals, he said.

It was really appreciable that Sonia Gandhi went to Varanasi to expose anti-people policies of Modi government though her health was not cooperating,’ Srihari said while hoping that she would resume her election campaign soon.The party leaders Manda Vinod, Jannu Ravi, Gorantla Raju, K Srinivas, Ch Venkateshwaralu and others were present.
