Will win Telangana, like we did in Assam: Laxman

Hyderabad: Stating that his first public meeting in Hyderabad created history, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said this meeting would lay a strong foundation for the bright future of the BJP in Telangana.

The Prime Minister was addressing booth-level party workers of the BJP at L B Stadium, the very venue where he had his first public meeting after being announced as the prime ministerial candidate.

Modi recalled the first meeting stating that the meeting had changed the mindset of political pundits as people attended the meeting by buying a ticket for Rs 5, which was never heard of.

He said the Hyderabad meeting made the analysts to see the BJP with a different view. “Today you have created a new history…this is not a public meeting… you are not voters… you are all booth level workers… you are strivingto keep the party flag aloft. Today, I can see what is in store for future. I see the future of Telangana.

The way political pundits saw the ‘ticket politics’, you should also see the future of Telangana with a different view,” said Modi. Earlier, state BJP president K Laxman launched a blistering attack on the TRS for encouraging defections in the state. He said 30 per cent of the MLAs in 119-member Assembly were forced to defect to the ruling party.

The same defectors, who criticised the ruling party leaders, have forgotten the morals and are enjoying ministerial posts without resigning and making a mockery of democracy. Laxman said that even after two years, people in power talk of ‘outsider rule’ (valasapalana) and are attacking people and organisations who question the government, the way they did during the Telangana agitation.

He said September 17, which was a source of aspiration for Independence, was used for political needs and the Liberation Day was not celebrated. “The courts have many a time reprimanded the state government, which is passing time by issuing GOs,” he alleged.

Laxman called on the party workers to expose the monarchic rule of TRS. He said, “The illusion about KCR’s rule is fading away. The way an ice mountain melts, the people are also losing faith in the government. The agenda of TRS’ two-year rule was to get votes, seats, notes and backstabbing.”

The BJP state president said the party would take inspiration from the victory in Assam where the party started off with five members and then came to power and in Haryana where it started off from four seats and then formed the government. He urged the Prime Minister to stand by partymen in the state and assured to win 15 out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.
