Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu on Monday reached Hyderabad where the fans accorded a warm welcome to her. Accompanied by coach Pullela Gopichand, Sindhu was welcomed by her parents, PV Ramana and P Vijaya along with Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, and ministers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on her arrival at Hyderabad airport.

Following a historic roadshow from the international airport to the city with fans lined up in thousands to greet Sindhu, she arrived at the Gachibowli stadium for a grand felicitation organized by the Telangana government.

Speaking at the packed Gachibowli stadium, Sindhu thanked her coach Gopichand, her parents and the KCR government for the support. The Olympic medalist further shared that she had not expected so many people to welcome her.

The two-time World championship bronze medallist, became the first Indian woman player to clinch a Silver in the Olympics. Sindhu lost to world no-1 Carolina Marin of Spain 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 in the final.

Telangana state government announced Rs 5 crore cash reward to Sindhu along with a 1,000 square yard housing site near the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Gachibowli and also cash prize of Rs 1 crore to coach P Gopichand.
