Mahbubnagar: The Ganapathi idol makers in Mahbubnagar are a worried lot because scanty rainfall may hit them hard. “We have been facing difficulties during the past two years because of drought.

If there are adequate rains, people will celebrate the Ganesh festival on a grand scale and we will have a brisk business,” said Limbaram, Ganesh, an idol maker, who came all the way from Rajasthan to Mahbubnagar a year ago.

Majority Ganapathi idol makers in Mahbubnagar and elsewhere in other cities across India are from Rajasthan. They have settled in different parts of districts, such as Narayanpeta, Gadwal, Nagarkurnool, Mahbubnagar, Jadcherla, Kalwakurthy, Devarkadra and other regions where there is a demand for the Ganapathi idols.
