Hyderabad: Stating that the company has to adopt eco-friendly mining practices and produce quality coal at cheaper rates and in bulk quantities, N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) said the company has to look into Australian technique in coal production, where there are some underground mines which produce 3 to 5 million tonnes per annum.

The MD was addressing the 6th Coal Summit and Expo in New Delhi on Tuesday. He was invited to act as co-chairman for the session “Policy Perspective” that was attended by representatives from government and non-government coal sectors and manufactures of mining machinery.

The summit, supported by Coal, Power, Mines, Steel, Railways ministries and NITI Ayog, was inaugurated by Balvinder Sing, Secretary, Ministry of Mines.

About nine technical sessions were conducted on topics like policy perspective, coal exploration and production, coal utilization, infrastructure, technology environment, Coal Bed Methane, CMM, coal beneficiation etc.

Coal India Chairman Sutirtha Bhattacharya and CMDs of Coal India subsidiaries and private coal companies took part in this summit. B Ramesh Kumar, Director Operations, B Baskar Rao GM (P&P), M Mallesh CGM and Raghuram GM from Singareni are taking part in the summit.
