Ganesh idols arrive for immersion in Godavari

Bhadrachalam: With the conclusion of Ganesha Navrathri celebrations, devotees from all over the State have been bringing a large number of Lord Ganesha deities to the town for immersion in the River Godavari.

During the last couple of days, the flow of deities brought for immersion was though minimal, the number increased heavily on Wednesday. A separate ghat is arranged here on the river bank. Devotees from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Nalgonda, Warangal and the other districts were coming here with large to very large deities.

With a special crane arranged for the purpose, the deities were being shifted on to a launch and then immersion was done in the deep
waters.

Godavari in spate The water level of Godavari here during the last 72 hours has been on rise and a rise of three-feet from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening with the level reaching 32.2 feet from 29.2 feet.

With the rising water-level, the bathing ghats here were submerged and the Irrigation officials were taking all precautions to avert any untoward incidents.
