Jangaon JAC to go to High Court

Jangaon (Warangal): With the police denying permission to organise a public meeting at Jangaon on September 20, the Jangaon Zilla Sadhana JAC is now planning to knock the doors of High Court regarding the issue.

It may be noted that the Jangaon JAC, demanding the State government creation of Jangaon district, has planned ‘Janagama Jana Garjana’ on the premises of Preston Institute in the town.

The JAC chairman, A Dhashmanth Reddy and ex-MLA Ch Rajireddy submitted a petition to Jangaon DSP T Padmanabha Reddy on Wednesday, seeking permission to hold the meeting with mike and cultural programmes from 10 am to 4 pm.

The DSP replied them on the same day, denying permission to the meeting. Currently Cr. PC section 144 is being enforced in the town, to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incidents the permission was rejected.

The DSP further said the JAC failed to control its followers, as meetings and protests conducted earlier in support of creation of Jangaon district have caused lot of inconvenience to the public and created law and order problems, besides burning an RTC bus.

Responding over the denial, Dashmanth Reddy said they would file a petition in the High Court on Thursday seeking the court to direct the police to grant permission to hold the public meeting.

“Section 144 is being imposed in Jangaon for more than 80 days. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, is acting like a feudal lord. He is trying to suppress the people of Jangaon and harm their interests using police,” he lamented.

The denial to organise public meeting is undemocratic and violates the Article 19 of Indian Constitution that allows freedom of expression. The people in Jangaon would not be bogged down by KCRs’ suppressive tactics, Dashmanth Reddy said.

The JAC leader R Ratnakar Reddy said the police have also denied permission to stage a protest on Wednesday by forming human chains at important junctions all across Jangaon division. The JAC would take out bike rallies on September 16, he said.
