Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday instructed the Irrigation Department to issue orders for the release of water from irrigation projects for drinking purpose under the State government’s ambitious ‘Mission Bhageeratha’ programme.

The Chief Minister who held a detailed review of the progress in pipeline laying works, construction of intake wells and water treatment plants under the Mission programme, asked Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao to take necessary steps for the strict implementation of the government’s policy to allocate 10 per cent of water in every irrigation project for drinking water needs. KCR wanted to make public project-wise water allocation under the Mission before the completion of works.

Harish was also directed to conduct a meeting with the officials concerned and prepare an action plan to supply water to all households by December 2017. Expressing happiness on speedy completion of the works, the Chief Minister said Public Health Department would take the responsibility of water supply in Municipalities and Rural Water Supply Department would monitor in villages.
