Hyderabad: Stating that the official machinery in Hyderabad has failed to act in time, Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru
Dattatraya on Friday advised the State government to implement Kirloskar Committee’s report to prevent rain-related devastation in the
city. He said if the State sent a detailed project report, he would help them in getting Central funds.

The Union Minister along with Mayor B Ram Mohan and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao on Friday reviewed the devastation wreaked by
rains in the city. Dattatraya said the State government should take permanent measures instead of going in for temporary arrangements.
He said the Kirloskar Committee gave its report in 2004, but because of the negligent attitude on the part of the officials and failure of
successive governments, only temporary works were taken up without taking permanent measures.

The Minister said the GHMC machinery was not efficient in tackling the situation. The officials had opened the vents of Hussainsagar for
releasing water, but there was no prior announcement to caution the people in the low-lying areas, he said.
