TRS govt anti-tiller: Renuka

​Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government in the State and terming it as anti-farmer one, Congress MP Renuka Chowdhary alleged that the farmers of Khammam, Nalgonda and Warangal districts suffered heavy losses due to spurious seeds supplied to them. She said the farmers in the State were not in a position to celebrate Dasara festival with happiness as seed companies looted the farmers with spurious seed.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, Renuka asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to tell what happened to his word of transforming Telangana State as ‘Seed Bank’. “What was the government functionary doing while seed companies distributed spurious seeds in three districts indiscriminately?” she questioned. The Chief Minister was protecting the seed companies, she said, and asked the Chief Minister to tell whether he did not get anybody to deceive rather than poor farmers.

Stating that she strived to get one month extension for ‘Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana’ scheme, Renuka alleged that the TRS government was an anti-farmer government. The TRS government had failed to give even seven paisa to the farmers even as the Centre released Rs 700 crore in the form of drought relief funds. “The TRS government has no awareness on the problems of the farmers,” she asserted.
