Hyderabad: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao would only win if mid-term elections are held in the State, former Minister and Nalgonda Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy asserted on Friday.

He predicted that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao would not win in Gajwel if the by-election is held. He vowed that he would not contest in 2019 elections if the two Congress MLAs and an MP in Nalgonda, who defected to the TRS, won the by-election.

  • If mid-term elections are held now, two Ministers Eatala Rajender and T Harish Rao only will triumph, former Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy says
  • The Chief Minister is mistaken if he believes that the elections can be won with the support of money, he points out

Speaking to the media at Assembly media hall here, Venkat Reddy challenged the Chief Minister to make public the names of seven to eight Opposition candidates, who can win in the next elections as predicted by the latter. He said the Congress was ready to disclose the number of seats and names of the constituencies where TRS would win the elections. The Congress candidate would win in Gajwel constituency too.

“Why the people will vote for you? What you have done for them to vote for you,” he asked. He also pointed out that KCR had failed to make a Dalit as Chief Minister as promised. He did not even release funds for fee reimbursement, failed to clear arrears of Arogyasree, failed to waive loans of farmers, he added.

Venkat Reddy chided the Chief Minister for assuming that elections can be won with the support of money. If KCR believed that he can win the elections following creation of more districts, the Congress leader recalled that N T Rama Rao had faced defeat after creating mandals. The TRS cannot win the next elections even if 131 districts were created, he said.

It was unfortunate that the TRS government was passing time idly by accusing the previous government for all ills. He also alleged that the TRS leaders were looting the State by awarding contracts for the projects in the State to four Andhra contractors.
