Hyderabad: The new swanky camp office-cum-residence, which is under construction on a sprawling nine-acre land beside the existing Begumpet camp office in the city, for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would be inaugurated on November 26 this year.

The foundation stone for the ‘high tech’ camp office was laid in March this year. Officials said the works have been taken up on a fast pace on the instructions of the Chief Minister and the whole construction activity would be completed before the ‘Muhurtham’ set for the housing warming ceremony.

The officials said the new camp office would be equipped with hi-tech video conferencing facility linking all district headquarters and police head offices to hold meetings in the emergency times. All the camp office premises would come under high security zone where security would be monitored through CCTVs round the clock.

All the buildings in the new camp office would be constructed as per vaastu guidelines only. The new camp office, taken up at the cost of Rs 36 crore, would be equipped with a mini theatre and a big conference hall with a capacity of 500 seats.

The existing camp office would be converted into VVIP guest house to provide accommodation for the visiting VIPs from other States and Union government. Since the visits of VVIPs are increased to the State in the recent times, officials said providing accommodation to the visitors has become difficult in the existing Manjeera and Dilkusha guest houses.

The other Lake View guest house has been given to AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who converted it as his camp office during his stay in Hyderabad.

It may be mentioned here that the State government accorded permission to demolish the IAS /IPS officers’ quarters and peon quarters for the establishment of the CM camp office on the premises of Punjagutta Officers’ Colony, where the existing camp office was already located in the city.

To comply with the vaastu norms, a swimming pool behind the camp office in the Officers Colony was already demolished last year. The officers associations raised strong objections for demolishing the swimming pool.
