Hyderabad: Alleging that corruption was rampant in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the CPI organised a ‘Chalo GHMC’ on Wednesday. It demanded that the State government punish the guilty by ordering an inquiry into massive corruption in the GHMC.

Participating in the rally, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy demanded that the State government ensure repairs to the battered roads in Hyderabad. He alleged that the condition of the roads in Hyderabad was in bad condition.

The people were dying due to bad roads but the government remained unmoved on the issue, he lamented. It was atrocious on the part of the government that it had failed to punish those guilty of the corruption. He demanded that the State government arrest the guilty immediately.

He regretted that the State government had failed to fulfil its promise of constructing double bed room houses for the poor. CPI national executive member Aziz Pasha expressed concern over the bad condition of Hyderabad roads.

He also lashed out at the Municipal Minister K T Ramarao, saying that he had utterly failed in solving the problems being faced by the slum dwellers.
