Mahabubnagar: Health, Medical and Family Welfare Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy launched the 13th package works of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project under Karivena reservoir at Battupally village in Bhootpur mandal on Wednesday and promised that by the end of next year 100 per cent ayacut in the district would get irrigation water by completing all pending projects.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, PRRLI is the largest irrigation project in Telangana and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was giving the highest priority to irrigation projects in the district. “Unlike earlier, for the first time the State government had provided irrigation water to maximum ayacut during this Kharif season. By end of next year, we are aiming to complete all the pending projects like Bheema, Nettampad and Koilsagar and provide irrigation water to 100 per cent ayacut in the district,” the Minister said.

While enumerating on the steps taken to launch of PRRLI project on war footage in the district, the Minister said that as soon as the Telangana government cleared the proposal of PRRLI, the Chief Minister had taken special care in ensuring the early completion of the project survey and land acquisition process for the project.

The Minister took a dig at earlier rulers in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh for inordinate delays in the construction of Kalawakurthy lift irrigation project and said the project which was launched in 1985 and took 20 years to complete.

He alleged that the opposition parties instead of giving constructive suggestions and supporting the government’s good initiatives in irrigation and welfare, are politicising every issue. Bifurcation of districts was done with a good intention for better governance and to bring welfare schemes to the door steps of people, Laxma Reddy said.
