​Hyderabad: Preparations for the centenary celebrations of Osmania University has got underway. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday conducted a review meeting with the officials of Education Department and Osmania University officials.

Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University Prof S Ramachandram gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on various activities planned for the Osmania University Centenary Celebrations.

The meeting was attended by MP K Keshav Rao, Special Chief Secretary for Education Ranjeev R Acharya, Registrar of OU Prof E Suresh Kumar, OSD to VC Prof Ch Gopal Reddy and Special Officer of Centenary Celebrations H Venkateshwarlu.

At the meeting it was decided to organise a three-day inaugural programme commencing from April 26 next year and to invite President of India as chief guest.

The Osmania University vice-chancellor said that Nobel Laureates and luminaries would be invited as speakers. A special song written by popular lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja would also be played.

A session would be exclusively allotted to Osmania University Alumni and seminar on the role of Osmania University in the promotion of education since its inception and cultural events reflecting the glorious history of OU would be organised.

This inaugural programme will be followed by year-long events and activities which include international conferences, science congress, social science congress, science exhibition, national sports events, release of four compendiums on “Osmania University History” and “Role of OU in Nation Building” in Telugu, English, and Urdu, etc.

Srihari also stressed on the need to give facelift to university buildings, developing greenery and improvement of infrastructural facilities in the university.
