Hyderabad: The Telangana government is hosting 77th Annual conference of India Road Congress in Hyderabad in December and Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma on Thursday directed the officials to make elaborate arrangements for the Congress to be held for four days from December 15 to 18.

The Chief Secretary held a high-level review meeting on the Road Congress at the Secretariat here on Thursday. Some 2,500 to 3,000 delegates from various States will be attending the event that will focus on road safety, measures to avoid road accidents and plan for smooth and hassle-free travel.

Rajiv Sharma asked the GHMC officials to take all steps to set up hoardings for the event. The civic body officials were also asked to take up road repairs and put in good condition all the thoroughfares besides sanitation and upkeep.

The departments concerned were directed to take up tourism and cultural programmes on the occasion.

The police and traffic officials were directed to make fool-proof security and traffic arrangements and fire tenders be kept ready for the Road Congress Conference.

Principal Secretary, Roads & Buildings Sunil Sharma said he held meetings with various departments to prepare for the mega event. Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy, Tourism Corporation Managing Director Christina Chongtu and other officials were also present.
