Khammam: An IT Tower that will have 50,000 square feet of plug and play area will come up in Khammam, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao (KTR) said.

Addressing a public meeting here on Sunday, he said that the State government has plans to turn Khammam into an IT hub in the next two years.

The local youths need not have to go elsewhere in search of employment,” KTR said, asserting that the government will give a push to IT development to attract the young entrepreneurs.

He said that all the TRS district leaders have been approaching Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao seeking favour for the region’s development. This is a good sign, he said, predicting all round growth of the district.

KTR, along with Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao, launched several developmental works, worth around Rs 100 crore. Prominent works among them were municipal corporation building, Lakaram Tank Bund and Gollapadu channel modernisation.

Maintaining that Telangana has become a beacon of development for many States in the country, KTR reeled out several programmes and welfare schemes like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Shadi Mubarak, pensions, rice supply etc initiated by their government.

Minister K T Rama Rao accused the Congress of playing dramas only for political gain. He alleged that the Congress leaders were
enacting another drama in the name of ‘Palle Nidra’, which was of no use.

He blamed that those, who failed to join the Statehood movement, were now coming in the way of development works. The IT Minister said even five years would not be enough to cleanse the stink and miserable situation, created by the successive governments for 65 years.

He suspected conspiracy behind the forcible merger of seven mandals of Khammam district into AP State even after achieving statehood. The Congress had no other job except to stall developmental works in the State due to vendetta, he said, adding that the Congress leaders had adopted one-point programme of witch-hunting the government on every issue.

KTR said that Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao’s grandson also consuming the same fine rice that was being supplied to social welfare hostels.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nageswara Rao said that people in Palair constituency will get water next month as the Bhakta Ramadasu project is nearing completion.

He heaped praise on KTR for his efforts to extract funds from the Central government besides paving way for the investments from other countries.

Tummala also thanked the Chief Minister for giving Rs 100 crore for Khammam Municipal Corporation. He also thanked the CM for timely release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar Project thereby helping the standing crops in the district.

Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar said that KTR had agreed to allocate Rs 60 crore for the modernisation of Gollapadu channel. He said that a few NRIs have come forward to invest in the proposed IT hub in Khammam.
