KCR seeks Central aid for State projects
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday and discussed with him various issues pertaining to highways and dry port. Ministers Tummala Nageshwar Rao, K T Rama Rao and party MPs accompanied the Chief Minister.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, R&B Minister T Nageswara Rao said the Chief Minister had requested the Union Minister to sanction in principle the works to be taken up for laying four-lane national highways and other projects.
He said the State government had submitted detailed project reports (DPRs) for various projects and was awaiting the Centre’s aid for taking up these projects. He said the Chief Minister had also taken up the issue of dry port with the Union Minister.
Nageshwar Rao said the Chief Minister had urged the Union Minister to take up the issue of land acquisition with Defence Ministry for road widening from Paradise Circle to Bowenpally in Secunderabad. The Chief Minster also urged the Centre to take up road laying works in Maoist-hit areas at the earliest.
The R&B Minister said the State government had urged the Centre to felicitate the land acquisition for various road works like road widening for highways passing through rural areas. The Minister said Gadkari had assured the State of all help and promised to take up the pending projects at the earliest.
In a related development, a delegation led by K T Rama Rao met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and sought the Centre’s help for various projects in the State. Sources said the Minister had sought funds for road works to be taken up in Hyderabad. Nageshwar Rao, MP Vinod Kumar and others accompanied Rama Rao.
