Hyderabad: A three-day meet of top police officers of the country began here on Friday.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the meet being attended by Directors General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) of all the states, Directors General of central paramilitary forces and top intelligence officials.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the meet on Saturday. He is expected to arrive on Friday evening and have a night halt at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, the venue of the annual meet.

Both the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will interact with police officials and have lunch with them.

Modi will return to Delhi on Saturday evening.

The conference will discuss cross-border terrorism, infiltration, radicalisation of youth and other security related issues.

According to official sources, filling up of vacant posts in police forces, reforms, menace of narcotics smuggling and human trafficking will also come for discussion.

This is the 51st meet of DGPs and IGPs and the third outside Delhi.

The idea of holding the meeting of DGPs and IGPs outside Delhi was mooted by Modi after he became the Prime Minister in 2014.

It was held in Guwahati in 2014 and in Bhuj in Gujarat in 2015.
