Grand centenary fete of OU planned
The state government, which wants that the festivities to be taken up by the University should be remembered by the people and the alumini for a long time, has decided to help the university in taking up repair works of the buildings, painting, recarpeting of roads and putting up signboards.
Hyderabad: Osmania University centenary celebrations will be held in a grand manner from April 26 to 28, 2017.
The state government, which wants that the festivities to be taken up by the University should be remembered by the people and the alumini for a long time, has decided to help the university in taking up repair works of the buildings, painting, recarpeting of roads and putting up signboards.
The Centre for Telangana Studies would be established in the university on the occasion of centenary celebrations, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said after a review meeting.
He said the University had imparted education to about one crore students since its inception.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that a reception committee, organising committee, finance committee and estimates committee would be formed to oversee the arrangements for the celebrations.
President Pranab Mukherjee or Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be invited to launch the celebrations.
The logo, broacher and website of the celebrations are under preparation and they would be released after the getting the approval of the Chief Minister, said Srihari.
The three-day inaugural programme would reflect the rural lifestyles of Telangana.
