A 30-year-old man committed suicide near Charminar on Thursday after allegedly being harassed by the police over a theft.

The deceased, identified as Khaja Hussainullah was interrogated by the police over a stolen bike he had purchased from another person.

Claimed that the cops had taken a bribe of Rs 65,000 in two instalments from Khaja, his family alleged that the harassment continued even after that and he hanged himself at home.

On the other hand, the police stated that Khaja is an accused in a bike theft case which is the reason behind the investigation.
