He said residential and model schools were prestigious to the government and the Chief Minister wanted these institutions to prepare the inmates in such way that they could face any challenge all over the world.

To achieve it, the staff should prepare an action plan in that direction, he said. Srihari said residential and model schools should be developed in such a way that there would be huge demand for admissions.

“The government is ready to provide good infrastructure, but providing quality education is the responsibility of teachers. Residential schools and model schools should become a model for the country,” the Minister said.

He said that training to subject teachers would be provided soon so that they could be kept abreast of the changing technology. He made it clear that digital classes and computer labs should be provided in residential and model schools at any cost.

Special interest should be taken about girls in these institutions in terms of security. Girls should not be allowed to go out of the campuses unless parents or relatives gave an undertaking, he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister desired that in the next two years, residential and model schools in the State should excel over Jawahar Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas.

Schools would be given ranks and grades next year and the best teachers and principals would be felicitated, he added.

Srihari enquired about the practices in the schools with the principals and said they should analyse why results were low in their institutions though they had qualified teachers as compared to corporate schools.
