Entries invited for awards to media
The Irrigation Department has invited entries from media houses, including newspapers, electronic media, online media and freelance journalists on the flagship programme of Mission Kakatiya.

Hyderabad: The Irrigation Department has invited entries from media houses, including newspapers, electronic media, online media and freelance journalists on the flagship programme of Mission Kakatiya.
The entries on Lakes Revival Programme and its impact on the lives of Telangana people, should comprise stories, articles, items and information published, telecast from January 1 to December 31, 2016 will be accepted for the cash prize by January 31, 2017. The Irrigation Department has decided to offer the cash prizes to the print and electronic media.
First prize will be Rs 1 lakh, second prize Rs 75,000 and third prize will be Rs 50,000 in print, electronic and online media. Besides, online and freelancing journalists can also send their entries of analytical, research stories, documentaries, short films and video songs on the Lakes Revival Programme. Entries should reach the OSD, Irrigation Ministry, D Block Telangana Secretariat by January 31, 2017.
In a release here, Sridhar Rao Deshpande, Officer on Special Duty, Irrigation Department, said it was decided to give cash prizes to the media for playing key role in giving wide publicity through writing special stories, articles and telecasting and airing articles on lakes restoration programme.
While the government has been implementing the programme in a big way, the water bodies, tanks and reservoirs got abundant waters during last rainy season. The media has played a pivotal role in propagating the news relating to lakes revival programme, he added.
