Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy assured that the State government would take all necessary steps to save TSRTC from incurring losses. He said that TSRTC will also enter into an Inter-State agreement with Andhra Pradesh for the issue of permits.

Raising the issue of Inter-State bus permits during question hour, TRS MLA Srinivas Goud demanded the Minister to scrap about 640 Inter-State permits obtained in May 2015 by the bus operators belonging to Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that illegal operations by politicians, who own buses from Andhra Pradesh, are resulting in losses to TSRTC particularly from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru via Telangana.

The Transport Minister assured to take appropriate action if any bus operator was found guilty irrespective of their stature and political affiliations.

Goud demanded development of a bus terminal at Miyapur and commercial activities in bus complexes to generate income to TSRTC.

In yet another question, Congress MLAs T Jeevan Reddy and D K Aruna asked the government to roll back the bus fares hiked recently as it would burden the poor and rural people.

Jeevan Reddy said that the TSRTC had incurred losses to the tune of Rs 700 crore during 2015-16. He asked the government, to study functioning of depots which were functioning well and replicate the same to provide quality services to increase the occupancy ratio of the passengers.

Aruna urged the Minister to sanction a bus station in her district and allocate new buses and withdraw age old buses posing danger to the lives of the people.
