KCR rains sops on ex-servicemen
After announcing double pension for retired armed forces persons, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday declared some more sops for the Army personnel.
Hyderabad: After announcing double pension for retired armed forces persons, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday declared some more sops for the Army personnel.
From now onwards, vehicles owned by the Army personnel would be exempted from paying vehicle tax in the State.
Holding a high-level review meeting on the welfare of the retired military personnel at Pragathi Bhavan here, the Chief Minister said the government was committed for the welfare of retired army personnel.
He decided to extend benefits given to the Army personnel to those martyred and also who lost their lives due to ill health and in accidents too.
Retired army personnel working as Special Police Officers would be paid salaries along with other employees every month. The Chief Minister stressed the need to strengthen the Army Welfare Boards.
There are 10 Sainik Welfare Boards in the districts, which would be extended to all the newly-formed districts in the State.
Steps would be taken to set up two Army Welfare Offices in Medak and Adilabad districts. Since the Centre had agreed to set up an Army School in Warangal, MoU in this regard should be signed as early as possible, he told officials.
Home minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, State Government’s Principal Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Southern India Army Commandant General Maj Gen S Pachauri, Secunderabad Station Brigadier Ajay Singh Negi, Col Tarun Kumar, Col Atul Rajput, Lt Gen Jaswinder Singh, Capt Navneeth Singh and Army Welfare Committee members were present in the meeting.
