Hyderabad: Father of Robotic surgery Prof Nam Kim from Severance Robotic Institute, Korea predicted that this minimally invasive surgery will gain ground in India very soon.

Inaugurating a two day workshop at Institute of Robotic Sciences (IRS) at Yashoda hospital he said 10 percent of total Oncology surgeries in Korea were performed as MIOS, between 2006 -2016.

Noted Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon Dr B Narasaiah Goud MP, said “The TRS government was giving priority for modernising medical felicities in Telangana.

He said the equipment used for Robotic surgery was cost intensive but hoped that Hyderabad will soon become the hub of Robotic surgeries.

Managing Director of the Hospital Dr G S Rao said Yashoda Group of Hospitals would make the availability of Minimally Invasive Oncosurgery (MIOS) facility to Surgeons who wish to use this technology for surgeries.

Though now MIOS is slightly expensive compared to Laproscopy, by 2020 it will become more economical and would be used widely.

Clinical Director of Robotic Surgery at Yashoda Hospitals Dr G Jagdishwar Goud said that Robotic Surgery in Cancers and Gynaec is the most advanced method to perform the Minimally Invasive Surgery. For surgeries of colon, oesophagus, uterus, thyroid cancers Robotic surgery is the best .

This gives cure with cosmetics and patient will be able to go home faster and resume normal life much earlier, he said. Both the patient and surgeon would be benefited from this newly devised technology, he added.
