Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will launch ten-day-long agitation programmes called Jana Avedana Sammelanam from Sunday against the "anti-people policies" of the ruling TRS government in the state and BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

"Congress would hold various agitation programmes across Telangana from February 19 to 28," TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy told reporters after chairing the TPCC executive extended meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here.

The Jana Avedana Sammelanam (public grievance meeting) was being organised as per the directives of All India Congress Committee (AICC), he said adding that the agitation programmes would be held across all the 119 Assembly constituencies in the state.

"A massive public meeting, Jana Avedana Sabha, will be held in Nizamabad and similar meetings will be held during this period," he said.

"Besides exposing the failures of central and state governments, local issues will also be highlighted in those meetings," Reddy said.

The TPCC chief alleged that both-- Telangana and Central governments-- have failed to resolve the problems being faced by the people. "All sections of the society were badly hit due to demonetisation decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

Alleging that the Modi Government has also failed to fulfil the promises that it had made to the people, Reddy said as against the promise of giving two crore new jobs, the Centre gave jobs to only 77,000 people.

He further alleged that the Prime Minister has been misleading the entire country with only catchy slogans like Make in India, Skill India, Start Up India and Digital India.

"However, the real development process has come to a halt since the BJP-led Government took over at the Centre," he said.

The situation in Telangana was "equally worse", where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has "completely neglected the development and peoples welfare", Reddy alleged.

"The TRS Government is not addressing the real problems being faced by the people," he said.
The Congress leader alleged that although the PM as well as Telangana CM were making new announcements every day, they were not taking any steps to implement those promises.
