Hyderabad: The Counter Intelligence Cell, better known as CI Cell of the Telangana State police indirectly helped the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh to zero in on the terror suspect Mohammed Saifullah, who was gunned down in a fierce encounter in Lucknow on Wednesday.

According to reports, Saifullah and his associates played key role in the Bhopal-Ujjain train bomb blast. Sources said the CI Cell had been monitoring the social media accounts using sophisticated software tools it acquired as part of its social media and cyber labs that helped the wing gather information about Saifullah.

The CI Cell has been monitoring the communication being sent through one IP address that was reportedly used by Saifullah and shared this information with the Madhya Pradesh police, who in turn shared it with the ATS of UP.

Acting the specific input, the ATS zeroed in on the hide out of Saifullah. The ATS, however, failed to nab Saifullah alive as the latter opened fire refusing to surrender. The UP police found huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material in the hideout of Saifullah.
