Hyderabad: Close on the heels of survey on performance of ministers and MLAs, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday came up with a progress report on the functioning of the MPs.
According to the survey report, the performance of 12 out of15 TRS MPs was said to be satisfactory. Karimnagar MP B Vinod topped the list with 60.2 percent marks followed by Peddapally MP B Suman, who is said to have scored 60 percent marks. It is learnt that Nizamabad MP Kavitha got fifth rank.
Performance of three MPs was rated as the lowest. Mahabubabad MP Sitaram Naik scored just 30 percent marks. Sources said that the Chief Minister asked the Mahabubabad MP and two others, B Narsaiah Goud of Bhuvanagiri and C Malla Reddy of Malkajgiri to improve their ranking.
“The only way to do so is to remain amidst people in your constituency and attend to their problems,” the Chief Minister is said to have told them.
The Chief Minister, who held a meeting with MPs, MLAs and MLCs on Saturday at Pragathi Bhavan, told them that the popularity of the government was high among the people as it had taken up never before kind of welfare and developmental activities and it would win all the 15 Lok Sabha seats. Since the party was in alliance with the AIMIM, it would leave one seat to them.
The fight would be tough with regard to the Secunderabad seat which is represented by Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya, KCR said. Hence it is imperative for the party rank and file to reach out to the people and ensure that TRS improves its score in the next elections, he said.
Sources said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is going to revamp the party’s organisational structure replacing the district presidents with Assembly coordinators on the lines of Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister, according to sources, revealed that the party is likely to do away with the posts like district committee presidents and instead, the MLAs in the Assembly constituency would be supreme in the party.
The organisational changes would be announced during the party’s plenary meeting scheduled to be held at Hyderabad in April.
Sources said that the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Centre would agree for delimitation of constituencies in the state.
“I am confident of increase in the number of Assembly constituencies in the state. The delimitation would be taken up within two months and the TRS is going to benefit from this,” KCR reportedly told the party leaders.
