KCR on why chillies not so hot now
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is learnt to have told the Congress MLAs as to why chillies now are not so hot. When the Congress members demanded that the chillies issue be discussed in the Assembly before taking up the amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill on Sunday, the Chief Minister is understood to have told them that the Opposition was trying to politicise the issue.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is learnt to have told the Congress MLAs as to why chillies now are not so hot.
When the Congress members demanded that the chillies issue be discussed in the Assembly before taking up the amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill on Sunday, the Chief Minister is understood to have told them that the Opposition was trying to politicise the issue.
He reportedly told them that this was the third crop of chillies and the third crop won’t be so hot and hence there was a fall in the price.
The chillies fetched Rs 4,500 on day one, but later it fell down to Rs 2,500. KCR also reportedly told them that the government had sought a detailed report from the District Collector.
However, Congress State unit chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy told reporters that the Chief Minister had dismissed the reports of farmers resorting to violence in the Khammam Market Yard and alleged that it was created by the Opposition parties.
Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the Chief Minister of turning a blind eye to the problems of the farmers. He said the Chief Minister was assuming that the farmers were very happy. It was unfortunate that the Chief Minister refused to accept that lot of chilli crop was lying unsold for want of remunerative prices.
Referring to the suicide attempt of a chilli farmer in Khammam on Saturday evening, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that at least now the Chief Minister should take note of the seriousness of the issue.
