Tummala pins blame on TDP for violence

​Hyderabad: Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao Saturday condemned the attacks by Telugu Desam leaders and their henchmen at Khammam market yard on Friday. He warned of stringent action against those who caused destruction in the name of farmers’ issues.

Addressing the media at TRS Legislature party office here, the Minister said the attack was masterminded by some vested interests at the behest of Telugu Desam party local leaders. “Though the government took every measure to procure chilli from farmers, the TDP leaders for political gain provoked their activists to attack the market yard, he charged.

Tummala expressed displeasure and concern at the attack which was the handiwork of the TDP leaders. He took strong exception to the TDP leaders for pressing hooligans to destroy the market yard completely.

Expecting no political future in Telangana, the TDP leaders were trying to get mileage by making unnecessary attacks, he fumed. Appealing to the leaders not to make any efforts that would cause loss to the farmers, he ridiculed the TDP leadership for not taking up relevant problems.

He admitted that the farmers in Telangana and other States also produced more chillies this time than expected and the price has come down to some extent.

The Centre has to decide the MSP of the chilli and the State government is taking measures to avoid losses to the farmers in this regard he said.
