​Warangal: District Collector Prashanth J Patil directed the authorities of government schools to ensure there is electricity supply to each school.

The collector on Saturday held a review meeting with officials of education and electricity departments. In the meeting, the collector discussed infrastructure at the government schools and the steps needed to improve infrastructure. He told the officials to identify schools that do not have power supply.

He said estimations to ensure power connection to such schools should be submitted within one week’s time. The required finances could be sourced from Crucial Balancing Fund (CBF) meant to meet the contingency expenditure for completing important works.

The collector asked the electricity department officials to make urgent efforts to provide power supply to schools. He asked the officials to submit a report on the schools which have no power supply due to non-payment of bills and details of pending bills has to be submitted so as to steps would be made to clear the bills.

The collector instructed officials to complete the construction works of kitchen sheds and toilets before schools reopened. The works were being constructed under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

The collector also enquired about the ongoing ‘Badi Bata’ and suggested to increase the enrolment of students. DEO K Narayana Reddy, RVM EE, Ravinder Rao and others were present.

The collector also chaired a district task force meeting on ‘Mission Indradhanush’ to ensure that 100 per cent vaccination coverage to all the children below the age group of two years was ensured.

Extensive campaigning should be conducted on the programme that will be held in the district from May 8 to 18. The medical officers and staff should consult with the parents and convince them to administer life saving vaccinations to their children, the collector suggested.
