Nandanam (Bhongiri): With the efforts of MP Boora Narsaiah Goud toddy tappers can now rely on a climbing machine. Narsaiah Goud on Saturday climbed a palm tree with the help of the climbing machine Rohak at Nandanam of Bhongiri mandal.

Speaking at the occasion, MP Narsaiah Goud said during his visit to Kerala, he saw the girls climbing coconut trees with the help of machines to tap toddy from the trees and decided to design similar equipment for toddy tappers of the State.

The work was assigned to a group of technical students headed by Manikanta. They successfully designed the 4.5 kg Rohak after making several modifications on the earlier design of 12 kg weight Rohak, MP said.

Training would be provided to all toddy toppers of the district in a batch wise process on every Sunday at Nadanam toddy tappers training centre, he added. The Minister described Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as the real hero for the people of caste based professions and mocked reel hero Pavan Kalyan as a man of social media.

Burden on government would be reduced drastically, once the caste based professions transformed to cottage industries, he said. He assured the toddy tappers that he would request the Chief Minister to supply the Rohaks to them on subsidy. District Collector Anitha Ramachandran, Exicise Asst. Commisioner Krishna Priya and others participated in the programme.
