Tender apology to people of Telangana: KCR
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday slammed the BJP national president Amit Shah for uttering “blatant lies” during his three-day visit to the state and demanded that he should apologise to the people of Telangana.
At a press conference, the Chief Minister said Amit Shah has the habit of talking as he likes. Listing out the inconsistencies in the claims made by the BJP national president, KCR challenged Shah to prove how and when the Centre had given Rs 1 lakh crore financial aid to the state and where had the additional Rs 20,000 crore per year gone.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- If Shah proves me wrong, I will resign: KCR
- BJP will not get even one seat in Telangana
- Shah’s remarks are affront to people of the state
“On the contrary, Telangana has been making hefty contribution to the Central kitty and is among the six rich states which make highest contribution to the Centre,” KCR said, adding: “If Shah proves me wrong, I am ready to quit.”
The Chief Minister took serious exception to the manner in which Amit Shah replied to certain questions at the press conference in Nalgonda. KCR said that when a reporter asked Shah about the delay in bifurcating the High Court, he cut a “cruel joke” saying that the High Court is in Hyderabad only.
“It is an affront on the self-respect of the people of Telangana. He has no business to heckle us. Amit Shah Tamasha Kar Rahe Hain. Hum Nahi Jante Kya?” KCR said, adding that in the past also L K Advani, in his capacity as Deputy Prime Minister, insulted us saying when Hyderabad is in Telangana, why do you need a separate state.”
The Chief Minister said, “I really don’t know why he is indulging in spreading such blatant lies, but it does not befit a person holding such an important position. I am also not sure whether these are his views or whether the local leadership has fed him with these absurd figures.”
He demanded an immediate explanation from the BJP president. “Such lose talk will hamper the progress of the state,” the Chief Minister said, adding: “Whatever he may do, the BJP cannot come to power in Telangana.”
According to a latest survey, KCR said the BJP will not get even a single seat in the next elections. He said, “I also sometimes dream of forming government at the Centre. Is it possible? The BJP coming to power in the state is also like that,” he added.KCR said the last time when Amit Shah came to the state and uttered similar lies, he did not respond thinking that they are ignorant.
But this time he decided to come out with facts and figures lest it would amount to endorsing the statements of Amit Shah. He said he was not concerned about the political aspect of Shah’s visit but he cannot allow the state to suffer.
Telangana, the Chief Minister said was one of the richest states and was competing globally in the IT sector, solar power, Industrialisation, power generation and agriculture.
Most of the schemes taken up by the government have been acknowledged globally, he said. “I can tolerate if Shah had criticized me personally but will never tolerate if anyone tries to belittle Telangana,” KCR said. The schemes launched by the new state were appreciated by many Central ministers, the Prime Minister and nine states had sent their officials to study schemes like TS IPass, Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya.
Union Minister Uma Bharathi had asked all states to copy our irrigation schemes. Even the vice-chairman of NITI Aayog had appreciated our schemes but Amit Shah was making contradictory statements, he said.
