Hyderabad: The leaders of Communist Party of India (Marxist) city unit along with the local residents of Ashok Nagar and Dhobi Ghat decided to take the Hussainsagar nala problem to the notice of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) MD M Dana Kishore for immediate action and also requested for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao to look into the problem.

CPI (M) city secretary M Srinivas said the State government and Water Board turned a blind eye towards Hussainsagar open nala issue. He said the Pollution Control Board took action only after a protest staged at their headquarters in Sanathnagar.

PCB members responded to the problem and inspected Ashok Nagar and Dhobi Ghat areas, revealing that Hussainsagar nala is causing air pollution. He said the PCB also admitted that sewerage water was flowing into the nala and recommended special trunk sewer to be laid at Dhobighat.

“We demand that the officials lay fresh pipelines and close the chemical pipelines which are carrying industrial effluents. He said CPI (M) would take up the problem to the notice of Water Board MD M Dana Kishore for immediate measures. He also requested that Minister K Taraka Rama Rao to also look into the matter and respond to it at the earliest.
