Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) decided to start development works at Cherlapalli station before acquiring further land. The decision was made as the Secunderabad railway station was bursting at the seams and several trains were getting delayed every day due to heavy load.

Speaking to the media on Friday, SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav said, “SCR has 50-acre land at Cherlapalli and would need another 100 acres to fully develop Cherlapalli as a mega terminal but land acquisition is a long drawn process, thus we decided to start work right away.”

He further added, “There is a land parcel with the Food Corporation of India and another piece of land with central government PCU.

We have had detailed meetings with the State government regarding the same.” SCR is also planning to develop a terminal at Nagulapally and a joint survey involving the SCR and the State government will be done soon. 250 acres of land is needed at Nagulapally.
