​Adilabad: Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Saturday announced Rs 30 crore for development of Adilabad Municipality for taking up development works and asked the people to bless the government for growth and welfare.

Addressing a public meeting at Adilabad market along with local Ministers Jogu Ramanna and A Indrakaran Reddy, KTR stated that the government is committed to develop the local municipality on a par with civic bodies.

Reacting to Ramanna’s appeal for allocation of Rs 50 crore for the local civic body, KTR announced grant of Rs 30 crore. He promised to release Rs 20 crore later.

The Minister said that the long-cherished dream of Adilabad to complete Lower Penganga project is coming true with initiative of Ramanna. The people are fortunate that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao himself is a farmer and he is aware of the farmers’ sufferings.

The Chief Minister came up with a unique scheme of granting Rs 8,000 to each farmer towards cost of fertilisers from next year he said. The State government is fulfilling the promises to built irrigation projects to boost agriculture and help farmers.

The government had allocated Rs 500 crore to complete Chanakha – Korata barrage and works on Mathadi Vagu were already completed. These three projects will irrigate about 80,000 acres in the area and help the farmers to sow two crops, the Minister said.

About 95 per cent of people in Adilabad are relying on agriculture activity and the projects will prove beneficial to them. Chief Minister held discussions with his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis and signed a deal on completing joint projects and better road connectivity. The State government will make use of its 1,200 tmcft share of waters from Krishna and Godavari rivers, he said.

Later, he inaugurated the PMR meeting hall built at a cost of Rs 2 crore in Utnoor. Afterwards, he reviewed the progress of Adilabad district development with the government officials. He asked officials to prepare a special development plan for the town. Later, he proceeded to Bellampalli where he inaugurated the double bed-room house.

Addressing a meeting here, he announced an allocation of Rs 15 crore for the development of town. Also, he announced an allocation of Rs 3crore for Bugga temple. He assured the people of the town that the 30-bedded government hospital will be upgraded to that of 100 beds. He assured house-sites to those who have built homes on the SCCL lands by taking up the issue with the SCCL management.
