Hyderabad: Monsoon has just set in but life for road-users from Jubilee Bus Station towards Patny in Secunderabad has become miserable as bad stretches of roads are leading to minor accidents as well as causing damage to vehicles.

Ongoing Metro works is compounding the travails of commuters. Frequent traffic jams are the order of the day what with several traffic signals on this stretch.

Being the second busiest bus station after MGBS, JBS caters to a large number of buses which ply to various districts. Buses take a lot of time to get on their main routes from this station.

A commuter, T Naveen, said bad stretches of roads ridden with potholes have become a big problem, especially when it rains. He was angry that civic bodies have not even taken efforts to fill potholes.

Venugopal, who rides a two-wheeler, said: “I use this route every day. Potholes are one of the saddest part of our city which is supposed to be a global city. Apart from causing back pain, the vehicle is also getting damaged and it has started making sounds because of the bad conditions of the road.

I am scared to drive during late evenings when rainwater is flowing. Two days back I almost met with an accident.” Narrating his experience, Sudhakar said that bikers are facing a lot of problem and are scared of travelling on this stretch.

Driving during night times on such bad roads with poor street lighting has become dangerous. “In the last few days, I have seen at least two accidents on this stretch. Fortunately, the injuries were not very serious,” he said.

A traffic police constable said that this road has been in the same condition for past many days and most of the vehicle-users are trying to avoid this place. She said that she was witness to a two-wheeler rider along with his wife and daughter fell in a pool of water after hitting a bump.
