Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday instructed officials to take up necessary steps to complete all the pending projects in Mahbubnagar district on a fast track and ensure supply of water to 10 lakh acres in the ensuing Kharif season.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday instructed officials to take up necessary steps to complete all the pending projects in Mahbubnagar district on a fast track and ensure supply of water to 10 lakh acres in the ensuing Kharif season.

In a review meeting on irrigation projects at PragathiBhavanhere , he said “complete all the pending projects in Palamuru and give top priority to these works. Last year we were able to give water to half of the ayacut. By next Kharif, the entire ayacut should get water and speed up the works. “

He also instructed that SRSP canals below LMD (Lower ManairDam) should be kept ready to the fullest to supply water to the tail end point of the ayacut by the Kharif season. Since all the obstacles for new projects like Kaleswaram, Palamur and other projects have been cleared works on these projects also should be speeded up.

The CM disclosed that funds for the irrigation department are not only coming from the Budget but also from other
financial institutions.The Chief Minister enquired about the progress in the construction of Kaleshwaram project to utilise State share of water in river Godavari.

The government is also preparing plans to lift water from Medigadda before the completion of the works on reservoirs. Yellampally, Mid Manair, Lower Manair would get 140 TMC of water for the reservoirs. With this, two crops should be cultivated in old Karimnagar and Warangal districts. He said every MLA should supervise and monitor works in his constituency. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and officials were present in the meeting.
